"Eine Lüge reist einmal um die Erde, während sich die Wahrheit die Schuhe anzieht."
Es handelt sich wohl eher um ein altes Sprichwort, das sowohl Spurgeon als z.B. auch Mark Twain zitiert haben. Deutlich wird dies aus folgendem Original-Zitat von Spurgeon: "If you want truth to go round the world you must hire an express train to pull it; but if you want a lie to go round the world, it will fly: it is as light as a feather, and a breath will carry it.
